Summer activities
Hochsauerland is the land of a 1000 mountains with something do to for everyone. Not only sports activities, but also for people who want to take it easy, Sauerland is a great place to be.
Hiking
If you like to have an active holiday, Grönebach is the place to be for you. Grönebach is situated in the middle of a hiking area with countless hiking trails.
At a distance of 1 km lies the famous Rothaarsteig trail, and at a distance of less than 2 km lies the beautiful area of Ruhrquelle. If you like heathland and vast plain, you can go to Hochheide which is within a walking distance, and a little bit further is the famous Kahler Asten. Sauerland is known for its good signposting and convenient walking maps.
Cycling
If you want to see more in one day and are not afraid to cycle up a mountain, you can go to the Bike Arena Sauerland which is located next to the farm. A nice bicycle route goes through Grönebach that is doable for both young and old. In the immediate vicinity there are more moutain bike routes that range from easy to difficult. Also with a racing bike you can go for a lot of beautiful rides. Sauerland is getting more and more paved cycle paths, so cyclists don´t have to cycle on busy roads all the time.
More fun
There are a lot of activities to experience for all ages.
In summer you can come down the Poppenberg and other slopes with bullracers, hillracers and mountainboards. Even sledge lifts are used in summer, as a tubing track.
The bobsleigh track in Winterberg is of course very well-known. In summer you can get a guided tour of the bobsleigh track and listen to beautiful and exciting stories. Around the bobsleigh track is the Erlebnisberg that offers something for everyone. A panorama bridge with splendid views of Sauerland, nice climbing units, the summer luge run with midget golf and the eurobungee, the Kletterpark where you can swing like a real tarzan, and of course not forgetting Europe´s best and most beautiful bike park.
If the weather won´t cooperate, there´s enough to do inside. Sauerland is known for its beautiful ore mines, the many castles and museums. There is a big leisure pool in Medebach and Willingen. For our small guests there is Schmallenberg Thikos kinderland, an indoor playground.
We can hardly mention all the things you can do in the immediate vicinity of Grönebach. We haven´t even talked about the golf courses and amusement parks.
