Grönebach especially distinguishes itself for its woody surroundings with beautiful landscapes. At a height of 560 to 825 metres this place offers everybody relaxation all year round.
Grönebach has an active social life. The atmosphere in the village is lovely and relaxed. The Romanesque church tower from the 12th century is the oldest building in the district of Winterberg. Grönebach was the principal town of the free county of the same name until the foundation of the district of Niedersfeld in 1812.
In 1989 and 1993 the wonderful village received a bronze medal in the competition "our village has to become more beautiful".

Winterberg is a town with an old centre, traditional houses, nice outdoor cafés in the square and plenty shops. In this town everything starts in the morning and everybody returns at the end of the day. In Winterberg there is a holiday spirit all year round.
Willingen is a town that offers a lot of opportunities. Hiking, mountain biking, wellness, shopping and so much more. And if the weather won´t cooperate, then the slate mine, glass gallery and brewery are well worth visiting. In winter also Willingen changes into a wintersport paradise with snow-covered slopes and modern lifts.
Hallenberg is Sauerlands most southern town, with the foothills of the Rothaargebirge. It borders on the state of Hesse.
The historical old town attracts a lot of visitors because of its unique character and pretty timbered houses.
Sauerland also has a lot of artificial lakes like the Diemelsee, Edersee, Hennesee and Hillebachsee located only 3 km from Grönebach. On a lovely day you can take a dip in one of these lakes. Every lake has a beach.
